At SBS, business activity is structured around four regions (Americas, LATAM, EMEA, APAC) through several global lines of business (General Property, Construction, Energy, Power, Casualty, Financial Lines, Marine/Cargo and Space/Aviation). Clients in each region are served by specialized underwriters who rely on SCOR's technical expertise and client knowledge.
SBS is recognized as a Tier 1 insurance and reinsurance market in EMEA. The EMEA Property team consists of eleven underwriters located in Paris, London, Zurich, and Cologne, and is a part of of a Global Underwriting Property platform including New York, Singapore and Bogota. The EMEA Property team plays a central role in cross-selling and product development, and has built a diversified portfolio with worldwide exposure. They are led by the EMEA Regional Head of Property.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Underwriting & Portfolio Management
- Manage and develop the existing Property portfolio (renewals, endorsements, claims involvement)
- Analyze, select, and underwrite submissions using a technical approach (risk survey analysis, pricing, policy wording, and terms & conditions)
- Ensure profitability and portfolio quality in line with SBS underwriting guidelines
- Contribute to overall business results through sound and disciplined underwriting
- Develop SCOR’s Property market share in collaboration with EMEA commercial teams
- Originate new business opportunities and maintain a regular flow of submissions
- Promote SBS capabilities to brokers, corporate clients and ceding companies across EMEA and London market
Represent SCOR at industry events (seminars, conferences, client meetings)

2. Business Development & Market Positioning
- Develop SCOR’s Property market share in collaboration with EMEA commercial teams
- Originate new business opportunities and maintain a regular flow of submissions
- Promote SBS capabilities to brokers, corporate clients and ceding companies across EMEA and London market
Represent SCOR at industry events (seminars, conferences, client meetings)

3. Client & Broker Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders across EMEA
- Conduct regular client meetings, risk visits and project site visits (approx. 25 days business travel per year)
Ensure high-quality service and long-term partnership development

4. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Work closely with underwriting peers across the SBS network to ensure consistency and team alignment
- Collaborate with technical assistants, claims teams and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and business intelligence within the team

5. Reporting, Data & Business Intelligence
- Produce and share portfolio analysis and market intelligence insights
- Report regularly on accounts, underwriting performance and commercial activity
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and timely entry of data in underwriting systems
Maintain reliable data to support portfolio monitoring and decision-making

6. Governance, Compliance & Expertise
- Ensure underwriting practices comply with legal, regulatory and SBS frameworks
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in selected industries
- Contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting practices and standards
Required experience & competencies
You are a senior property underwriter with a former international or domestic experience, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance market.
Experience
- Established underwriter with several years of underwriting experience in Property class of business
- Proven underwriting skills for complex property program of large corporates.
- Proven ability to assess risk quality through survey report reviews.
- Market recognition and sound reputation across insurance market
- Ideally established market relationships
Optional : Broking experience, industry or risk management experience, experience of writing international business, risk engineering.
Communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
Active engagement and contribution to the global property team is essential, with a strong team spirit.
- Knowledge of competitors, cedants, reinsurers and brokers within EMEA or internationally
An enquiring mindset with the ability to work independently as a motivated and pro-active self-starter. Curious and willing to learn.
