Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.
Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.
The Manufacturing Automation & Digitalization Engineer is a key member of the Automation & Industrialization (A&I) team and a central architect of Harmattan AI's digital manufacturing backbone at its greenfield Wissous facility.
This role coordinates the digitalization of production lines through the definition and integration of MES and ERP architectures, acting as the primary bridge between engineering, production, quality, and supply chain. Working in close partnership with the Odoo Software Engineer, you co-own the digital and operational architecture of the factory from day one.
You capture cross-functional operational needs, define system architecture, and translate requirements into actionable technical specifications — enabling scalable production, tighter quality loops, and full traceability of our autonomous defense systems.
Cross-Functional Requirements Coordination
Lead structured operational analysis and requirements workshops with production, engineering, quality, and supply chain — mapping current and target operating modes at line and equipment level, identifying process gaps, and establishing a formal, baselined set of operational needs
Build and maintain a traceable requirements repository — from stakeholder need to implemented feature — using standard requirements management practices
Ensure continuous alignment between evolving operational requirements and the deployed system architecture
OT/IT System Architecture & Integration
Co-define with the Odoo Software Engineer the end-to-end digital architecture of production lines: data flows, system interfaces, API contracts, and OT/IT integration layers
Define the application landscape: Odoo MRP/MES scope, dedicated MES modules, automated equipment interfaces, IoT/edge connectivity, and data aggregation layer
Specify connectivity architecture for automated machines and tools: robotic cells, automated test benches, measurement systems, and smart tooling
Maintain a living architecture reference documenting decisions, interfaces, and data flows
Machine & Tool Connectivity
Define data acquisition requirements for each automated asset: cycle times, process parameters, alarm states, tool wear indicators, yield and scrap data
Read and interpret PLC programs, machine data maps, and equipment communication specifications to define precise integration requirements
Specify edge computing and data normalization layer to aggregate heterogeneous machine data into a unified, ERP-consumable format
Drive integration of automated test equipment (ATE) and measurement systems into the quality data pipeline — enabling automated pass/fail decisions and SPC data feeds
Define smart tooling connectivity requirements: torque wrenches, automated dispensing systems, vision inspection systems, and coordinate measurement machines (CMM)
Oversee machine onboarding process: protocol qualification, data mapping, signal validation, and end-to-end integration testing
Shop-Floor Digitalization
Define and oversee implementation of digital work instructions and connected operator interfaces, synchronized with machine states and automated process steps
Specify and deploy end-to-end component and assembly traceability: from goods receipt through automated WIP tracking to shipment, fully integrated with Odoo manufacturing and inventory modules
Implement digital quality control points linked to automated measurement outputs, in-process inspection records, FAI workflows, and NCR management
Define OEE data collection architecture: automated machine availability, performance, and quality data feeds into real-time production dashboards
Essential Qualifications
Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or equivalent
3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing digitalization, MES/ERP implementation, or industrial IT in a production environment
Proven track record of eliciting and formalizing cross-functional requirements on industrial production lines
Solid ability to define system architectures and integration flows (OT/IT, ERP, MES, IoT)
Strong understanding of core manufacturing processes: routings, BoM structures, work orders, quality control
Professional English required; French is a strong plus for daily on-site collaboration
We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
