The role will be employed by Setec Offshore Wind and assigned on a full-time secondment basis to Setec Sealand, a company dedicated to offshore engineering solutions headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in the delivery of offshore engineering consultancy activities across tenders, projects and internal work scopes. The role involves coordinating and executing engineering activities to ensure high-quality technical deliverables in line with company procedures, industry standards and client requirements.
Working within multidisciplinary teams, the Senior Project Engineer contributes across all project phases, from early-stage studies through detailed engineering, installation support and project close-out. The position requires strong technical coordination, effective communication and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
In addition to technical delivery, the role includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the organisation.
Key Role Functions
Support the activities of the business as required in the capacity of Senior Project Engineer across offshore engineering consultancy projects, tenders, and internal work scopes.
Prepare, coordinate, and deliver engineering documentation
Perform Inter-Disciplinary Checks (IDC) and technical reviews of engineering deliverables produced by internal personnel, partner offices and subcontractors to ensure technical accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements. Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in technical review meetings, design reviews, HAZIDs, workshops, constructability reviews and project coordination sessions as required to support successful project execution.
Act as a key engineering interface between the Paris office and UK-based project teams
Support the development of engineering methodologies, work procedures, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives
Manage and coordinate subcontractors, consultants and suppliers as required, including technical review of subcontractor deliverables and monitoring of performance against scope, quality and schedule requirements.
Provide technical support to offshore installation and operational scopes, including responding to technical queries, reviewing operational constraints and providing engineering input or approval as required.
Attend client offices, fabrication sites, ports, vessels and offshore locations as required in support of operational projects, surveys, installation campaigns, and engineering activities.
Liaise with Aberdeen Lead, Glasgow Lead and technical disciplines to support the coordinated development and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering solutions for ongoing projects and work scopes.
Contribute to tendering and business development activities where required, including preparation of technical inputs, scope definition, manhour estimates, methodology development, and client engagement support.
Candidate Profile
University degree level in relevant engineering discipline
Minimum 6 years relevant working experience
Experience in a project environment with knowledge of project management and project administration
Developing contractual / commercial awareness.
Developing supervisory and leadership abilities.
Excellent communication abilities with strong interpersonal skills.
Clear self discipline, time management and organisational skills.
Familiar with legislation, codes and standards as relevant for area of responsibility.
