To provide up to date and full legal support within the Family Department in respect of privately paying and legally aided family finance cases, divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, prenuptial agreements and cases involving unmarried couples, dealing with clients, case work and related financial matters where appropriate.
To assist with management and supervision tasks as delegated by the department head.
To comply with requirements as to training.
To maintain sufficient and accurate records of all client affairs including instructions received and advice given.
To report any expression of concern by a client or any matter that may give rise to a claim so that appropriate support may be provided.
Observe all professional duties.
- Carrying out all allotted family casework to include divorce, dissolution of civil partnership, finance matters including high net worth cases, prenuptial agreements and cases involving unmarried couples promptly and efficiently
- Effective supervision of family finance team members ensuring high levels of client care, substantive case work, and technical delivery are maintained
- Responsibility for the implementation of the business development and marketing strategy relating to the Family Finance Team
- To report to the Head of Family Department on all matters relating to the team at such intervals as may be agreed
- Communicating clearly and regularly with clients, complying with ‘client care’ requirements.
- Keeping up to date with legal developments, particularly relating to own specialist field(s).
- To ensure that detailed practices and procedures in the firm and departmental manuals are adhered to in the family finance team order to maintain professional, Legal Aid Agency, Lexcel and firm standards
- We expect all members of staff to work efficiently to ensure the continued profitability of the firm.
- Ensuring that time spent on all case work is promptly recorded and regularly billed
- Dealing with all routine correspondence, negotiations and advocacy
- Analysing legal matters and advising clients of appropriate course of action.
- Development of precedents and standard letters in relation to divorce and family finance
- To promote the family department
- Any other duties or responsibilities, which may be required from, time-to-time.
- 5 yrs + post qualification experience in Family Law
- Necessary knowledge, skills, experience and attributes to fulfil the main duties and responsibilities as outlined above.
- Ability to report back to Head of Department

- Resolution Accredited Specialist /Law Society Advanced Family Law Panel
- Knowledge of legal aid
