Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today's challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future. Leveraging data, AI, and real-time decision-making, we turn energy complexity into growth opportunities for our partners.
By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable and affordable.
With teams across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen.
What will I be doing?
As Solution Architect on the ENGIE programme, you will own the end-to-end technical relationship with ENGIE's architecture and engineering communities in France, ensuring they can build successfully on the Kaluza platform.
- Client Architecture Partnership: Work alongside ENGIE's architecture and engineering teams in France to design workable, scalable solution architectures for new requirements and platform configurations, using deep knowledge of the Kaluza platform, its APIs, and architecture best practice.
- End-to-End Technical Ownership: Own the integration and technical architecture of the ENGIE programme in France, covering API and interface design, identity, eventing, and the orchestration of distributed services.
- AI-Informed Architecture: Bring AI thinking into solution design, identifying where LLM-powered tooling, intelligent automation, or AI-assisted workflows can be embedded into the platform or client delivery, and shaping how Kaluza's AI capabilities are surfaced to ENGIE.
- Enabling Client Teams: Define and deliver technical sessions so ENGIE's architects and engineers gain a deep understanding of the Kaluza platform, while building an equally deep understanding of ENGIE's own architecture in return.
- Client Engagement & PoCs: Run client proofs-of-concept, respond to RFPs and RFIs from ENGIE and other European clients, and visit client sites. Regular travel across the UK and France and occasionally further afield should be expected.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction to engineers and architects building demos, prototypes, and PoCs for upcoming ENGIE workstreams and adjacent client engagements, influencing without direct line management.
- Voice of the Customer: Feed ENGIE's needs and your wider knowledge of client architectures back into Kaluza's product development, target architecture standards, and internal architecture community.
- Strategic Influence: Act as a strategic partner to architecture leadership across the programme, leading technical due diligence and making high-stakes architectural decisions that align ENGIE-specific solutions with Kaluza's target architecture.
About You
Ideally you'll have/be:
- Solution Architecture Expertise: Proven ability to architect modern distributed, cloud-based systems and apply architecture best practices in an enterprise software environment, particularly for third-party integrations.
- Technical Vision & Influence: Ability to shape and influence technical vision and product roadmaps to align with both Kaluza's and the client's business goals.
- AI Curious: An interest in how AI, particularly LLMs and intelligent automation, can be practically applied within enterprise platforms.
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Comfortable making appropriate technical choices to satisfy complex, sometimes ambiguous requirements, including diving into code-level design when needed.
- Technical Influence: Proven ability to guide and influence engineers at all levels through design decisions, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices, driving quality without formal authority.
- Stakeholder Communication: Superb ability to engage with both technical teams and executive leaders, communicating clearly to diverse audiences and orchestrating cross-functional solutions across multiple product features.
- Self-Directed & Collaborative: Able to self-organise across multiple parallel client workstreams, bringing strong opinions while remaining open, collaborative, and self-aware.
What will set you apart:
- LLM & AI Integration in Architecture: Demonstrable experience designing solutions that incorporate LLMs, AI-assisted workflows, or intelligent automation, with a solid grasp of prompt engineering, context management, and how AI services fit into distributed system design.
- AI Tooling Advocacy: A track record of introducing AI-assisted practices (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, agentic workflows) into architecture or engineering teams and building the structure for them to scale beyond individual use.
- Complex Domain Architecture: Experience architecting solutions in complex business domains particularly interface design and data modelling. Ideally including API design on AWS and some of: modern front-end frameworks, GraphQL, Webhooks, IDPs, CRMs, ERPs, billing/payment platforms, or order management systems.
- Global B2B2C SaaS Delivery: Proven track record delivering global B2B2C SaaS, ideally in energy or other mission-critical industries.
- Engineering Practice Leadership: Success driving adoption of modern engineering practices (e.g., DevOps, CI/CD) and leading teams through significant changes in ways of working.
