Wakam is a B2B2C insurance company that creates white-label insurance solutions via its Play&Plug® technology platform for more than 80 partners. We provide most of our insurance products through APIs and operate across 32 countries, making Wakam the European leader in digital and embedded insurance. Wakam is also a mission-driven company dedicated to "enabling transparent and impactful insurance."
You will join the Partnerships Control team, which plays a critical role for:
- Our policyholders, by ensuring that partners deliver reliable, high-quality service.
- Our regulators in France and across Europe, by demonstrating robust oversight of delegated activities.
Controls cover distribution and management of insurance products, risk identification and assessment, and regulatory compliance (e.g. AM, IDD, GDPR).
To support a temporary reinforcement of our perimeter, we are looking for a Partnership Controller (6-month fixed-term contract) with strong expertise in claims management and compliance. You will report to the Partnership Control Team Lead and work closely with operational teams, Compliance, Legal, and external partners.
As a Partnership Controller, your mission is to assess and challenge how our partners manage delegated insurance activities. You will ensure they:
- Deliver a high standard of service to our policyholders, particularly in claims handling.
- Operate within a robust risk and compliance framework.
- Align with Wakam's expectations, procedures, and regulatory obligations.
You will be involved in the control cycle from preparation to follow-up.
Prepare and Organise Controls
- Organise controls in line with the annual control plan
- Lead the preparation phase: contractual review, claims portfolio analysis, definition of control scope and objectives.
- Coordinate round-table meetings with internal stakeholders (Claims, Operations, Compliance, Legal, etc.) to identify risks and to collect expectations, and feedback on the partner.
Conduct Controls (Remote)
- Perform controls with partners.
- Assess the operational handling framework: processes, timelines, customer communication and complaint management…
- Carry out sample reviews and quality checks on files, focusing on accuracy, consistency, and regulatory and contractual compliance.
- Test the end-to-end customer journey.
Analyse, Recommend and Follow Up
- Identify issues, weaknesses, and risks (operational, compliance, conduct, financial).
- Draft clear findings and recommendations, and define a corrective action plan with the partner.
- Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of action plans and ensure timely closure of issues.
Contribute to Methodology & Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements to control tools, templates, and procedures.
- Contribute to cross-functional discussions on risk and compliance topics impacting the perimeter.
- A postgraduate degree with a specialisation in insurance, risk, audit, or internal control.
- ideally 3–5 years of experience in claims management — within an insurer, MGA, or claims management company
- Good knowledge (or appetite for) in audit and/or control activities and/or risk management.
- A basic understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to insurance distribution and claims (AM, IDD, GDPR) is a plus.
- Strong command of Word and Excel.
- Fluency in English and French; any other language is a plus.
- You are rigorous, autonomous, and analytical, with strong synthesis and writing skills.
- You are comfortable working within a fast-paced, demanding environment and managing multiple topics simultaneously.
- You can challenge partners constructively and navigate complex conversations with professionalism.
- You bring a collaborative mindset and enjoy working as part of a team toward a shared impact.
At Wakam, we are progressively integrating AI and automation into our processes, including control and audit activities. An appetite for digital tools is a clear plus. You will have opportunities to use AI-powered tools to prepare documentation, analyse data, and draft reports. What we value is your curiosity, openness to change, and willingness to learn.
We aim to keep the process transparent, engaging, and efficient. Here's what to expect:
