We are looking for an experienced
Senior Biometrics Specialist to join a project
supporting eu-LISA in Strasbourg.
The successful candidate will act as a subject-matter expert in biometric
matching, AFIS technologies and biometric workflows, supporting the analysis,
optimisation and continuous improvement of large-scale biometric systems used
in security and border-management environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject-matter expertise on biometric matching operations,
workflows and operational processes.
- Act as a biometric/technical AFIS expert in the development and
evolution of biometric solutions.
- Evaluate biometric workflows, eAiciency, performance and quality-control
processes.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations on biometric
methodologies and operational procedures.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals, reports,
specifications and supporting documentation.
- Support the definition of biometric performance requirements for diAerent
business domains.
- Analyse biometric accuracy and performance results and propose
corrective actions where necessary.
- Analyse operational and technical logs and prepare reports with findings
and recommendations.
- Follow technical developments and innovations in biometric technologies,
including algorithms, standards and systems.
- Participate in biometric working groups and technical meetings with
internal and external stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Minimum 9 years of professional experience in IT.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with 3M Cogent,
Morpho/IDEMIA or equivalent AFIS technology in large-scale IT
environments.
- At least 3 years of experience in biometric workflows and/or technical
operations involving AFIS or biometric systems supporting border
control.
- Strong knowledge of biometric matching, identification and verification
processes.
- Experience with fingerprint, palm-print and facial image processing
solutions.
- Experience with biometric performance, accuracy and data-quality
principles.
- Experience analysing technical and operational biometric system logs.
- Experience working in complex, security-sensitive or mission-critical IT
environments.
Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of:
- AFIS and biometric matching systems
- 1:1 verification and 1:N identification
- Fingerprint and palm-print processing
- Facial image processing
- Biometric data quality and accuracy
- Matching thresholds and performance indicators
- International biometric standards
- Biometric interoperability
- Data protection and security constraints applicable to biometric
information
Knowledge of standards such as ISO/IEC biometric standards, ANSI/NIST and
ICAO biometric requirements will be considered a strong asset.
Education
- Minimum 4 years of relevant higher education after secondary school,
corresponding to a Master's degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science,
Engineering, Biometrics or another relevant technical discipline.
Working Arrangement
The role is based in Strasbourg, France, under a Near-Site delivery model:
3 days per week on-site in Strasbourg
2 days per week remote / home-based
Candidates must therefore be based in, or willing to relocate/commute to, the
Strasbourg area.
