The position is based in Paris, France
As a Business Development Intern, you will join hummingbirds' fast-growing international team and actively contribute to the commercialization of high-integrity nature-based carbon credits generated by our global portfolio of projects.
You will support the company's growth by helping expand our client base, strengthen our market positioning, and develop our sales and marketing tools in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.
You will work directly with the Business Development Manager and the Chief Commercial Officer, gaining hands on experience in the voluntary carbon market, corporate climate strategies, and international carbon finance. You will also interact with a wide range of stakeholders, from corporate buyers and brokers to institutional partners.
This is first and foremost a commercial role: your priority is to sell and to support the sales process. AI tools are part of your everyday toolkit to work faster.
You do not need coding skills; you do need the curiosity to use AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, HubSpot's built-in AI features) to accelerate research, drafting and follow-up, always under your own critical review. The position is a 6-month internship, with the possibility of employment depending on performance and business needs.
As a Business Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to:
Contribute to commercial growth and client development
▶ Support the prospection and outreach of new corporate and government clients globally.
▶ Conduct due diligence on clients' climate policies, sustainability commitments, and carbon credit procurement strategies.
▶ Participate in sales meetings, calls, and presentations, both in preparation and in direct interaction with prospects.
▶ Contribute to the structuring of commercial offers and proposals, including pricing, volume allocation, and co benefits presentation. Help monitor and analyze competitor positioning.
▶ carbon credit demand dynamics, corporate climate trends, and Maintain and update the company's CRM database (HubSpot) and track business development performance indicators.
▶ Use AI tools to work smarter, not to build them: prepare tailored prospect briefs ahead of meetings (company context, published climate strategy, sectoral commitments, entry points) using AI assisted research on public disclosures (annual reports, DPEF/TCFD, ESG press releases), and draft first versions of outreach messages and follow suite contacts — always fact-- ups for CSR leads, procurement teams, and C checked and refined by you before use.
Support marketing and communication initiatives
▶ Consolidate and refine marketing and communication materials (brochures, project one pitch decks, presentations).
▶ Contribute to digital marketing content (website, newsletters, social media, client case studies).
▶ Ensure brand consistency and visual coherence across materials, demonstrating a strong sense of aesthetics and attention to detail.
▶ Support the preparation of sales campaigns and visibility actions, in coordination with the communication team.
▶ Participate in market intelligence and competitor benchmarking, identifying emerging trends and business opportunities.
Representation and networking
▶ Support the organization of client meetings and professional events (sectoral after roundtables, webinars, etc.).
▶ Act as an ambassador of hummingbirds' mission and values, advocating for high integrity, community-driven nature-based solutions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a Master's student from a business school, engineering programme, with a first internship experience in sales, finance, sustainability, or an equivalent AI or strategy.
We are looking for a commercial profile with strong curiosity for AI tools, but this internship is built aroundbusiness development skills first.
Core skills:
▶ Fully fluent in English and French (written and spoken); Spanish and/or Portuguese are a plus.
▶ Strong interest in sustainability, nature credibility is non-- based solutions, and carbon markets negotiable in this market.
▶ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong sense of buyer persona and the ability to adapt messaging to different stakeholders (sustainability teams, procurement, legal, C suite).
▶ Demonstrated proactivity, organization, and attention to detail.
▶ Good sense of aesthetics and marketing presentation (experience with PowerPoint, Canva, or design tools is a plus).
▶ Analytical mindset and ability to synthesize complex information clearly.
▶ Comfortable working in a fastpaced, entrepreneurial, and international environment. — Comfortable using AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent) for research, drafting, and synthesis and, critically, comfortable questioning and fact-checking what these tools generate before it reaches a client.
▶ Familiarity with HubSpot or another CRM is a plus.
