The Montessori 21 Bilingue school in Paris comprises a school and an after-school centre.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and caring English-speaking after-school assistant who is comfortable working with children aged 2 to 11 to join our dynamic after-school team.
Within a stimulating educational environment, your role will be to support the children’s development and learning during after-school sessions and full-day Wednesday programmes, whilst adhering to the fundamental principles of Montessori education.
Your main responsibilities
- To welcome the children warmly and kindly after school and on Wednesdays, creating an atmosphere of trust and safety.
- Lead educational activities, and design and run workshops in line with the principles of Montessori education, fostering independence, creativity and the development of each child’s skills.
- Observe the children and monitor their individual progress to tailor your support and enhance their learning.
- Work alongside the school team to ensure educational continuity and meet each child’s specific needs.
- Prepare and maintain the educational materials made available to the children.
- Help maintain the premises used for educational activities.
Your skills
- Experience in supporting young children in school or after-school settings, with a keen interest in hands-on, creative activities that encourage independence.
- Knowledge of the Montessori approach and a commitment to its core values (independence, respect for the child’s own pace, supporting the child with their emotions and relationships with others, kindness, etc.).
- A passion for teamwork and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Good organisational skills and a sense of responsibility to ensure the effective management of your time and educational activities.
- Initiative and creativity to devise original activities tailored to the children’s needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build a relationship of trust with the children, parents and members of the teaching team.
- Patience, gentleness and kindness to support the children in their development and learning
