You will play a central role in supporting the development, growth, and career progression of our consultants at McKinsey.
You will also be accountable for upholding Professional Development (PD) processes and rules across the PD team, ensuring consistency, clarity, and high-quality execution in the team’s ways of working and coaching the team. Working with Partners and Associate Partners across 2 to 3 industry sectors, you will combine talent advisory, staffing, coaching, and people development to help match the right consultants to the right opportunities. In doing so, you will directly contribute to two priorities at the heart of our firm: delivering outstanding client impact and developing exceptional people.
You will work closely with leadership to understand business priorities, anticipate talent needs, and shape thoughtful staffing and development recommendations. You will act as a trusted thought partner to senior stakeholders, bringing together individual aspirations, client needs, staffing constraints, and broader office priorities to support sound decisions and constructive trade-offs.
Together with the France PD team, you will support consultants throughout key moments of their career journey. You will stay close to their development, progression, availability, and broader people topics; conduct regular check-ins; coordinate organization of semi-annual review committees; follow up on feedback and evaluation inputs; and provide timely, constructive guidance to help them understand their strengths, development priorities, and next steps.
Within the PD team, together with the PD Director, you will be expected to set clear priorities, create an inclusive and trust-based team environment, coach and develop team members, reinforce mutual accountability, and help the team deliver high-quality outcomes across staffing, development, and people processes.
Your work combines strong relationship-building with business sense, analytical rigor, and sound judgment. You will build trust with the team, consultants and leaders while developing a nuanced understanding of individual aspirations, experiences, strengths, development needs, and personal context. You will also help continuously improve our people processes through structured analysis, clear problem solving, and active participation in team and office priorities and initiatives.
You will be based in the Paris office as part of our Staffing & Professional Development team and will report to the Director of People for the France Office.
