The Curie Institute Research Center
Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a Hospital Group and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.
The objective of the Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
UMR3664 – Chromatin Dynamics Laboratory (Almouzni Team)
Head of Laboratory: Dr. Geneviève Almouzni
Joint affiliation: CNRS / Institut Curie

Our research investigates how chromatin organization dynamics — from nucleosome composition to nuclear architecture — contribute to key cellular functions involved in maintaining and/or changing cell fate in both physiological contexts (cell cycle, differentiation) and pathological conditions such as Cancer.
Main missions
Mission 1 : Imaging and Image Analysis
Prepare cellular samples for microscopy (immunofluorescence, fixed/live cells, organoids, tissues, sections)
Perform imaging acquisitions using widefield, confocal, and super-resolution microscopy
Carry out image processing and quantitative image analysis (segmentation, colocalization, 3D analysis)
Contribute to the interpretation of spatial chromatin organization data
Mission 2 : Cell and Molecular Biology
Culture and manipulate cell lines (HeLa, U2OS, NIH-3T3, etc.)
Culture mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs), including differentiation approaches
Perform transfections, knockdowns (siRNA), and genome editing (CRISPR)
Extract DNA/RNA/proteins, perform qPCR, and prepare samples for ChIP-Seq, transcriptomic, or proteomic analyses
Mission 3 : Technical Expertise, Training, and Knowledge Dissemination
Optimize existing protocols and monitor technological developments to improve them
Train and support laboratory members (interns, PhD students) in the techniques developed under Missions 1 and 2
Document experimental results (reports, concise presentations) both in writing and orally to contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Position Requirements
Use of fluorescence and confocal microscopes equipped with laser sources
Handling of human and mouse cell lines in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory
Flexible working hours depending on experimental constraints
Education and Experience
Master’s degree (MSc) or Engineering degree in Cell and Molecular Biology
Preferred experience: at least 1–2 years of laboratory experience (internship or fixed-term contract) involving cell culture and imaging
Appreciated knowledge: chromatin biology / epigenetics, embryonic stem cell culture and differentiation
