We are seeking a female or male Assistant/Associate Professor to join the Autonomous Critical Embedded Systems [ACES] team within the Computer Science and Networks Department (INFRES).
Join a dynamic team to tackle the challenges of embedded and distributed AI, at the heart of critical systems (IoT, autonomous vehicles, robotics). Your mission: rethink algorithms and architectures for constrained environments (computing, memory, energy), while ensuring reliability, robustness, and verifiability of systems.
The key challenges include:
-
Model optimization (compression, pruning, quantization, NAS) for efficient deployment at the edge (edge computing).
-
Continuous and adaptive learning in dynamic environments, with security and resilience guarantees.
-
Hardware/software co-design for multi-agent and distributed systems, integrating lightweight foundation models (LLM, VLA) for robotic or humanoid applications.
-
Integration of formal methods for verifying functional and non-functional properties (safety, real-time, cybersecurity).
Your main responsibilities will include:
-
Participating in the design and implementation of teaching in your scientific field.
-
Conducting research in your scientific field.
-
Contributing to the development of partnerships, collaborations, and contractual relationships.
We are looking for candidates whose work revolves around embedded AI, distributed systems, and formal methods, with an interdisciplinary approach. Key skills include (non-exhaustive list):
-
Machine learning and deep learning (optimization, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning).
-
Embedded systems and edge AI (hardware constraints, energy efficiency).
-
Multi-agent systems and robotics (coordination, distributed control, swarm robotics).
-
Formal verification and dependability (modeling, specification, robustness analysis).
-
Proficiency in English.
