About OptoSigma Europe
OptoSigma Europe is a leading global provider of high-precision optical components, opto-mechanics, and custom alignment systems. We are part of the Sigma Koki group, a worldwide group based in Japan. Joining our team means working at the intersection of precision physics, mechanical engineering, and hardware automation.
We offer an international, energetic, and young workplace where team members collaborate across borders. Because our team is diverse and international, English is our primary working language (used ~90% of the time).
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on Junior Systems & Automation Engineer to join our engineering department in Les Ulis. Designed specifically for a fresh graduate, this role offers direct involvement with physical, optical, and mechanical hardware from day one.
You will focus on practical hardware automation—writing lightweight Python scripts for alignment units and basic vision setups—while learning our core product lines. As you gain technical expertise, this position provides a clear long-term career growth path toward becoming a Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM) for our alignment units and specialized system product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Scripting & Automation: Develop practical, lightweight Python scripts to control test benches, alignment units, and simple vision systems.
- System Integration: Assist in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting precision optical-mechanical alignment setups.
- Field Installations & Support: Travel occasionally (approximately once every 3 to 6 months) to customer or partner sites for hardware installation, setup, and commissioning.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with international colleagues and senior engineers to document test procedures, hardware specifications, and system workflows.
- Growth & Progression: Progressively take on product ownership, market feedback integration, and roadmap planning on the path toward Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
Candidate Profile
- Education: Master’s Degree (Bac+5) or Diplôme d'Ingénieur in General Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Physics, or Optics.
- Experience: Open to fresh graduates (0 years of experience required).
- Language Skills: Fluent / Professional command of English (written and spoken) is required. French is a plus, but daily internal operations are predominantly in English.
- Technical Skills: Basic familiarity with Python (from coursework, university projects, or internships) for basic scripting and data acquisition/hardware control. Advanced software architecture background is not required.
- Mindset: Eager to work hands-on with physical opto-mechanical hardware, comfortable in a multi-disciplinary environment, and curious about product lifecycle management.
Work Environment & Benefits
- Work Arrangement: On-site position at our Les Ulis facilities (No WFH / remote work).
- Base Salary: €36,000 gross per annum.
- Meal Vouchers: Ticket Restaurant program.
- Transport: 50% statutory reimbursement of Pass Navigo / public transportation costs.
- Team & Culture: Dynamic, young, and friendly international engineering team.
- Travel: Occasional international/regional travel for field installations (every 3 to 6 months).
How to Apply
