ABL – an Aqualis Group company - is a leading global independent energy and marine consultant working in energy and oceans to de-risk and drive the energy transition across the renewables, maritime, and oil and gas sectors, offering the deepest pool of expertise across marine and engineering disciplines in more than 300 locations globally.
Working as a core member of our ABL France team, you will deliver a wide range of marine surveying and consultancy assignments across the French maritime market. Using your knowledge of the region, you will help us to find new clients and establish ABL as a first-choice service provider for marine assurance work.
What will you be doing?

Attend vessel casualties, incidents and damage assessments, determining the nature, extent and cause of damage.

Prepare technical assessments, repair cost estimates and comprehensive reports for clients.

Plan, attend and oversee marine operations and surveys, coordinating third-party inspectors and specialist consultants where required.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international clients, supporting the growth of ABL's maritime business in France.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to business development activities and the expansion of service offerings.

Support the promotion and marketing of ABL's marine surveying and engineering consultancy capabilities.

Maintain a strong level of personal utilisation, achieving billable targets while ensuring excellence in service delivery.

Champion Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) standards, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
What are we looking for?

Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or Chief Engineer (STCW II/3), preferably with proven surveying or consultancy experience.

Minimum 7 years' relevant experience within the maritime sector.

Strong understanding of maritime industry standards, codes and regulations, with the ability to apply them effectively in practice.

Sound technical, analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide practical recommendations and solutions.

Demonstrated experience delivering accurate, high-quality reports and managing multiple assignments to tight deadlines.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and trusted client relationships.

Commercially aware, with strong business development skills and the ability to identify and convert new opportunities.

Good knowledge of the French maritime market, including key clients and industry stakeholders.

Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ambition to help establish and grow ABL's maritime business in France.

Existing network and relationships within the French maritime sector would be advantageous.

Experience working with or supporting P&I Clubs and Ports and Harbour Authorities would be highly desirable.

Fluent in French and English.
Further Information:
This position will be based in France with remote working. You must have the legal right to live and work in France without visa sponsorship.
You will be expected to travel around France to undertake onshore and offshore surveys on a frequent basis. Occasional travel to our Paris office might be required.
