Business Controlling Director M/F
The Business Controlling Director is a senior finance leader partnering directly with the Freight Forwarding CFO to drive financial performance, strategic planning, and business decision-making across a global organization operating in more than 67 countries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Performance Management & Controlling
- Partner with regional finance and operational leaders to strengthen business performance management and financial analysis.
- Monitor financial performance across the Global Freight Forwarding business and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Design and implement Business Intelligence dashboards and performance reporting tools aligned with business needs.
- Prepare monthly executive presentations and financial reviews for senior leadership.
- Oversee the financial management of centrally controlled activities, including GEODIS-owned aircraft operations.
2. Commercial Performance & Investment Governance
- Lead the Investment Committee governance process for global customer opportunities.
- Evaluate customer profitability, pricing, and commercial performance.
- Provide forward-looking financial analysis to support commercial strategy and business development.
- Monitor commercial pipeline performance and support investment decisions.
3. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting, rolling forecast, and long-term planning processes for the Global Freight Forwarding business.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data reported by business units.
- Develop and maintain financial models supporting reporting, budgeting, and strategic analysis.
- Partner with Finance Transformation and Business Intelligence teams to enhance the global performance management framework.
4. Headquarters Finance & Governance
- Oversee accounting activities, statutory financial statements, and internal control compliance for the Freight Forwarding Headquarters entity.
- Manage budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis for headquarters functions, including personnel expenses, IT investments, and management fees.
- Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and governance standards.
5. Finance Transformation & Digit
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, business intelligence, financial modeling, and process optimization.
- Support the implementation of new finance systems and digital solutions that improve reporting quality and operational efficiency.
6. Leadership & Strategic Business Partnering
- Lead, coach, and develop an international finance team across multiple functions and geographies.
- Build strong partnerships with Finance, Operations, Commercial, IT, and Corporate stakeholders.
- Support strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, organizational transformation, finance projects, and talent acquisition.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification is considered an advantage.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience within multinational organizations.
- Proven experience leading international finance teams in a global environment.
- Strong background in Business Controlling, FP&A, financial reporting, and business partnering.
- Experience supporting executive leadership and influencing strategic business decisions.
- Demonstrated success leading finance transformation initiatives, ERP implementations, and process improvements.
- Experience within logistics, transportation, supply chain, or other global service industries is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and governance.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with ERP and EPM platforms, preferably SAP and Oracle EPM.
