Environnement + International + Innovation
1). Une activité qui concerne les enjeux clefs pour les années et les décennies à venir : la gestion des ressources en eaux, la valorisation des déchets donc la préservations de ressources de plus en plus rares et la protection de l'environnement, la nature mais aussi les conditions de vie dans les milieux urbains (une part de plus en plus importante de l'humanité vivra en milieu urbain) ;
2). L'activité internationale, dans les régions développées (Europe et Amérique du Nord) et de plus en plus dans les régions en développement telles que la Chine ou l'Inde où se concentrent les grands bassins de populations et les problématiques environnementales qui vont avec ;

hormis les avantages sociaux,, les horaires correct sauf lors de l' astreinte, le salaire moyen mais pas supérieur à la moyenne;

The day work begins with a work meeting at 7.30 am to prioritize the differents task of the day : the manager read the listing of the alarms which appeared during the night and share it between the differents workers. Then the workers fix the alarms of the night such as defective valves/ analyzers.
I learned how to start/stop a drinking water plant; analyze differents water parameters such as NH4, O2, PO43-, SO42- ...
My co-workers were nice and helpful.
The hardest part of the job was to wash decanteurs and to change the Granular Activated Carbon filter.
My favourite part of this job was to analyse water and to improve the purification installations.
I worked for SUEZ for about eight years. The pay to begin was terrible, but I needed a job and figured if I worked hard, I could move up in the company. WRONG! SUEZ is like High School; if you're popular or French, you'll be promoted. You could have a the education level of a Kindergartner (Some people there do), but if you're popular, and in the "IN CROWD," you'll be promoted. If not, they will take advantage of you, work you like a dog and never give you a dime extra. In addition, their work load dispersed amongst is very unfair . One person will just gossip all day and another employee would have so much work that he doesn’t have time to use the bathroom or go to his sons baseball game. It’s disgusting, I’m not sure how some people at that company sleep at night.
I worked like a dog for SUEZ; weekends, holidays, all night after hours, you name it, I was working. dI did it to better my life and my family's life, thinking one day it would be recognized. Boy I couldn't have more wrong.
Suez brags about their diversity and their zero tolerance for harassment and bullying, which couldn't be further from the truth. On a daily basis, I was harassed, discriminated against and ostracized; treated differently than any other member in my department, with my very Senior, VP level supervisor leading the herd and the Director of HR and Director of AP as his tag team, like WWF wrestling. HR is not and will not be there to assist you, they just believe whatever your manage
Points positifsLearned a thing or two.
Points négatifsEverything Else!- No work/life balance for some
The management at suez are so far disconnected from the staff on the ground it is unreal they are happy to break rules when it suits them they have no union that they will recognise so if you have a disciplinary issue there is nobody at the company that will help you as they are all scared that if they help you they will be saked too they will know who i am by the next part i will tell the world about where they saked me for THEFT i went to a disciplinary and proved i did not steal anything half way through the disciplinary process they realized i didnt steal anything so they changed what they were saking me for to not weighing items on a scale in the shop the scales to weigh items on were not working broken before i ever started there when this was explained to the management they wouldn't accept that they were wrong and terminated my contract for under valuing goods and not weighing items on the scales gross misconduct apparently we all know that this is not gross misconduct but a training issue at best never the less still saked for not weighing items on scales when in there own disciplinary procedures it states that if you cant weigh an item then a best guessed estimate is ok i followed this procedure and entered 15kg manually there is little to no training in the shop apart from to get what you can for the second hand good you will receive no auctioneer's training or training for older antiques if you miss judge a value you could be saked for under valuing items like me
I worked here for over two years, first as a technician, then as an analyst. All I can say is how happy I am to be out of that place. The annual staff turnover is about 40%, and there are several very good reasons for this. Pay is terrible - many labs pay their technicians more than analysts get here. Due to the high staff turnover, "training" basically means that you get one or two weeks sitting next to somebody who is trying to teach you everything they know (and they typically only had about a years experience working on their instrument) before they leave for another job. I learnt more in 2 months in my currant workplace than in 2 years working here. Break time conversation often revolved around jobs that we had seen/applied for.
Expectations are way too high. Although the management aren't particularly unpleasant or bullying, analysts are expected to handle a massive workload while maintaining quality, and have to work in a really rushed manner. This made for a workplace in which high stress is the norm. Understaffing is a problem here, it is so bad that if you take a day off for whatever reason, your position cannot be adequately covered, so coming in the next day is a nightmare. I know of staff members who had vomited but still came into work because they couldn't face the thought of what would be waiting for them the next day if their work didn't get done. This wasn't the case when I started working here, but the business expanded rapidly without taking on enough s
Points positifsNice colleagues, rapid progression
Points négatifsHigh workload, stress, poor pay and morale
The supervision are a waste of time they like to run the place like a social club for there friends that are part of a click to sit in the office with there feet up whilst every one else is working they bring there friends into the business they advance quickly through the ranks get the positions of plant operators etc it was the same before even when viridor had the business on the greater Manchester contract I can not understand how a reputable corporate multi national company allows certain people to rob a living its now got to a point were the genuine employes have had enough i know this will be read by middle to senior management my advice would be to act on this quickly send some one on the shop floor to find out What's going on i.e undercover to sort this problem out you can cut the atmosphere in the mrf with a knife the tension is that bad when you report problems to supervision in regards to the plant not working properly they carnt even be bothered to even listen to you let alone act on the problems they just responde with a sarcastic comments to belittle you when you are trying to do your job the saddest thing out of all this is that all the genuine employees will go and you will be left with people who are there on false pretences my sincere advice to any one who wants to work at longley lane sharson mrf especially on nights is to turn round and run until this situation has been sorted lets wait and see if head office was to see one third of what goes on at the f
Interview process was not very in depth. After starting however, I was set to a very in depth train in online about all safety regulations and standards involving everything I would be working with at the company. (I.e. I now know more about ladder safety than I would ever consider necessary). After Online training, you are tasked with shadowing (follow, watch and learn) a veteran employee. The veteran is responsible for giving in depth instruction on the operation of various machines used in the fabrication process. Some of the machines are an iron worker for punching holes into or shearing metal parts, a large metal cutting band saw, plastic cutting band saw, and a stationary sander. After a few days of shadowing, you are set to work with your trainer. During this time you are given hands on training on a wide assortment of hand and power tools as well as the machinery I just mentioned. You will also be in and our of trailers installing parts or at the tables assembling said parts. The culture looks similar to high school at first glance as their is a lot of trash talk and grown men joking around. In reality, the guys there got your back so long as you don't take their trash talk too seriously and you actually work, pay attention and try to learn. You're not going to understand nearly anything about the job at first, it can get confusing, but everybody understands that. They will tease you though. Just talk trash back, respectfully. The moment I walked through the front door, I always debated which of the multiple deadlines I had to finish first before I even thought about grabbing coffee.
Luckily, other technicians taught me very well about the daily processes; however my enthusiasm and lack of sleep provided efficiency to barely keep up with the daily work load.
Management wants the customers' priorities finished first, no questions asked. Every technician can collaboratively assist with the departments requests to make the testing run as smooth as possible to ensure our clients were operating at peak capabilities.
The best part, is having your own department lab to process, you control the work flow if you know how to handle 10-15+ routine activities to meet productivity. Hardest function, interpreting representative information from the field.
From my perspective, the most enjoyable part I looked forward to was learning new skills. Having the engineers/PHDs explain the complexities that occur within various molecular structures; which attribute to the overall assessment of our analytical understanding.
Everyone has a great work ethic with a high integrity to support the environment from helping businesses control their pollution and resource input. Truly a great company to work with, yet an individual can only sacrifice so much until you finally cut your losses.
Lots of decide between drivers and loaders, if the loads are well established in the company they pick and choose who they want as a driver, and they are not always the nicest, they like to push you as a driver you don't stop, they can eat while you drive to the tips, you can't they forget that! The job is hard going spending at least 1/3 of your day going backwards, and having to watch out for cars and people, there are lots of rules around it all, taking holiday is a pain as everyone always wants it at the same time and not many people can be off at the same time. You can be with a different crew every day, you are expected to go out and help other crews even if others finshed before you and have already gone home so that's not fair and gets rather annoying. Management is ok, they are approachable, and decent enough people just tied with rules of the company. It's not a bad place to work, early starts and long days, trucks are all a bit beaten up lots without Aircon so you sweat in the summer due to the strick rules on uniform being saftey boots and full length thick throusers to protect you, also have to wear gloves yet again personal protection so it's for our benefit, not a good job if you are unfit or unwill even as the driver you are expected to get out and load the lorry. It's a tiring job and can be long days with little to no time to eat unless eat while you drive, early starts late finsihes can be out the house for 12 easy. Not the worst job I've ever had or will ha
Start times vary depending on what you're told you're doing the following day. There can be very little routine to the week which adversely affects your sleep pattern and tiredness takes its toll. Home life is also affected because you're going to bed so early (8pm can be a late one) there's no time to spend with family or friends.
Vehicles are in desperate need of modernisation. I have driven a few that have gone further than the Moon!!
"Supervisors" don't listen to drivers and constantly cover up their mistakes. There is no ownership for errors made in the transport office (at my depot at least) and no one higher up seems to notice the figures just don't add up.
Facilities on site are poor and we feel as though we're looked down upon by those who don't have to wear hi-viz clothing. If you smoke and work in the offices, you can easily take 10 minutes every hour to get your fix, but try and stop to talk to a colleague for a couple of minutes and it's noticed!
No appreciation is shown for hard work or exceptional acts and morale is a dirty word.
My managers door is always open, because my manager is rarely in his office.
Pay could be better, as could communication.
Personally, I feel worthless and my years of experience count for nothing.
As soon as a suitable job elsewhere is available, I will be leaving.
Points positifsNone that I can think of.
Points négatifsVery early starts, disruption to personal life, you are made aware that you are easily replaceable.
Great suport from my line manager and I was able to learn lots of new skills whilst working at SUEZ.
A typical day at SUEZ was signing visitors in and out, answering external and internal calls, replying to and sending emails, booking transport and hotels for colleagues, disrupting the post, ordering stationary online and I was in charge of testing the fore alarms weekly. At SUEZ I learnt about the business, I learnt how to order stationary online, I learnt how to book colleagues trains and hotels and what procedures and policies to follow throughout my day. My co-workers were great, very supportive and helpful, my line manager especially would always look out for me and check I was ok. They made me feel very welcome and I was able to gain some really good admin experience from them. The hardest part of the job was then learning and progressing on to help with the accounts and financial team. I learnt how to process statements, cheques, remittances and chase up any outstanding payments. The most enjoyable part of my job was working as part of a team, learning new things everyday, being front of the house and welcoming customers in and finding out how much I enjoyed admin/reception work.
Points positifsLovely team to work with and a great business to work for.
Points négatifsDidnt always have enough work to do, I had to keep asking for more work to do.
