Great Place to Learn and Grow Professionally
I had a great career at KPMG (Tax) and I left there after 19 years. The firm gave me so many challenging opportunites such as working in federal tax, state tax, professional practice, overseas position, etc. In addition to that, I worked with so many smart people who helped me along the way which gave me a great skill set.
Coming up through the ranks, I had good managers and partners almost the entire time. People who cannot manage, mentor, teach, lead by example, be supportive, be positive and motivate people generally leave after 4-5 years with a great skill set.
The one regret I have is not taking the time to get to know each and every person I worked with. You get bogged down with so many other responsibilities, life, family and then a staff person leaves who you barely know is a decision maker at a client and you didn't nurture that relationship.
