Not for everyone
If you're willing to drink the proverbial Kool Aid, you will find success at this company. Ultimately, the opportunities for professional growth and promotions are dependent on how much you are willing to put your head down and work. I enjoyed working in this environment for a while but the toxic corporate culture and poor management support/coaching drove me to pursue other opportunities. Management was considerably more focussed on ensuring that billable hours were minimized rather than maximizing the quality of the work. Some management personnel were better at creating a teaching environment than others but the majority of Senior Management were too busy to provide any meaningful teaching opportunities. The constant employee turnover was demoralizing to the point where the conversations around the water-cooler revolved around "How much longer are you going to put up with these working conditions before you leave?". The answers were typically "until I get my hours" or "until I write the CFE". The steady turnover coupled with the overall attitudes of the majority of employees created toxic work conditions that I could not tolerate for very long.

Great Opportunity, No Work/Life Balance
KPMG offer great training, and has a wealth of resources, but there is absolutely NO work/life balance. This is not a KPMG problem, it’s a Big 4 problem. The amount of hours you work compared to your counterparts in Industry is so lopsided it laughable.
No matter what they say, there is NO work/life balance.
That being said it is a great opportunity if you go into knowing what it is. Expect 50+ work weeks during NON-busy season times.

This was a great place to grow and learn the business
This was one of the best jobs I've ever had in terms of learning the accounting trade. I was fortunate enough early on to be assigned to mostly small business audits, which set the stage for the rest of my career and my love for the small business culture. I wouldn't trade my KPMG days for anything professionally!!

KPMG St. Louis good place to start in auditing career
KPMG was a great place to work, as long as you're prepared for the work life balance of all public accounting firms. You will be expected to put in the hours, but it is great experience and most people here were great to work with.
Points positifsGreat experience

Good company for career development
People are friendly and willing to help each other here. A good place to learn things quick and good place to meet so many fun people. Salary is low but it is still a good stage for a new graduate.

Great starting career, room for growth and advancement
KPMG is a great place to start an accounting career with much room for growth and advancement. The people and culture are great here. However, if you're looking for work/life balance, look elsewhere.

Great Foundation of Experience
I did the typical 2-3 year stint in public accounting, and then transitioned to a job with better work/life balance. KPMG provided a solid foundation of experience for my career in accounting/finance.

Great place to start a career
I worked here 17 years ago. While the work wasn’t for me, it was a great place to start a career. The benefits and extra curricular activities are great. The hours are pretty rough but you know that going in.
