Project Manager
Working at KPMG was like working with your favorite part of the family. This company has the greatest environment that I have ever experienced. This company helped me to become a great asset to other companies. They taught us structure, how to strive for excellence and always strengthen our technical skills and talents. Continual support in career paths, with compliments that encouraged and motivated the employee to have healthy competition with each other.
Recruiting was an art to be reckoned with, by sharing great sourcing techniques and teaching how quality in everything we did preempted the quantity of what we offered. As you can see, I still say we, because they always offered a team spirit. I was grateful to be a part of one of the greatest big fours ever to be in the Accounting Consulting Business that taught me to be a very strong player in any environment.
Hardest part of the job was having to leave when the company downsized during the years of IPO's, Enron and other current changes that caused companies like this one to make hard decisions.
Points positifsWorking at the time Big Five
Points négatifsThe Layoff after Enrons / Sarbanes and Oxley

Great place to work. On the job training is more important than anything else.
I love to work in KPMG. This is my first job which i started as an intern and climbed in the ladder more enthusiastically learning new things in each and everyday which i like the most. We don't have to stick with same boring work everyday.
Even though audit firms are little tough with tight deadlines and long hour work, we enjoy that as well. Working as a team and achieving one goal satisfies us more than one achieve one goal. At the end we all become life time friends and hence this is a good place to build good network.
Points positifsWe are not doing same boring things everyday. We learn different things everyday.
Points négatifsLong hours and deadlines

Very productive work place
Overall care for the employee- the people agenda is number one.
Our East Africa practice comprises Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. There are 21 Partners and more than 1,000 professional staff who provide a full range of services to organisations in the region. KPMG East Africa has considerable experience in audit, tax and advisory services. The Nairobi office serves as the regional co-ordinating office providing the required networking to facilitate delivery of services on a timely basis to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations.

Nice place
The projects were awesome and the team members were great to work with. Learned a lot about office politics and how if you are not liked or are willing to take a "hit for the team" when management messes up that one is blacked balled for all future projects and given clerical work on every project.
The hardest part of the job was knowing that if one did the right thing and having high ethics one got punished for it by being placed in menial positions and denied the opportunity to be placed on contracts.
Points négatifsproactive is not welcome

Partners choice
Partners sweet boys driven company. There is no fair and equal treatment. You get the business, you handle the business you do the liaison yet you are neither promoted nor increment is given. Whereas the informers within the team get escalated to senior positions and with big increments. Totally a unprofessional management with no transparency.

Fun, great benefits - but too difficult to progress/move roles.
Very difficult to progress or move into another area without the experience, which you cannot gain unless doing the role you are trying to seek!
Otherwise, great benefits, lovely people and working flexibility in most teams.
Points positifsLunch allowance, benefits
Points négatifsLack of progression/career options

Busy, competing demands
Work is life at KPMG. There is no balance unless you enforce it, which is often received negatively. I did not have the technology to complete the work expected, and when raised (positively or negatively), concerns we rarely addressed
Points positifsBonuses at certain levels, challenging work
Points négatifsLong hours, high expectations, little guidance

Productive and fun workplace, polite stakeholders
My role was interacting with the business on day to day basis, preparing presentations for the client, analysing data and general PMO activities such as risk and change management. I enjoyed the collaborative environment. Senior management was very helpful.
