Kpmg is Professional Services firm, it’s a very competitive firm and I was delighted to be given the position
A typical day at work in Kpmg is a very challenging one with new things to learn everyday. It definitely left me eager to learn more everyday. I learnt more about time management, team work, the importance of ethics in a business, communication and interpersonal skills.
The management in Kpmg is great, they are really nice and accommodating people. They make work bearable and understandable. They have a good communication with the staff and our open to feedback.
The workplace culture was amazing, there was strong ethical value in the firm such as intergrity, accountability, competence and so many more. The working and non-working staff are completely professional with each other and equally friendly. It was a very conducive atmosphere to learn.
The hardest part of the Job was the extensive work that needed to be done that needed longer hours of work. So it involves a lot of late nights.
The most enjoyable part was definitely the people, they are very nice and friendly people and made the work bearable. Communication flow was very good. Also there are benefits and rewards for all staffs which made the work bearable
Points positifsGood working environment, Friendly co-workers. Employees benefits, strong management support
A very demanding environment that allows a good time for fun with all kinds of different people.
-I do not always go to our main office as my job is client based. I normally go to the client and attend kick off meetings and consult with clients as and when I need to based on the scope of work. I also travel a lot.
-Communication with the team is very important. This should include communication with regards to time, clarity and your basic understanding of the project at hand.
-As expected, some are friendly and great to work for however some do not have people skills to handle situations as required and professionally
-Co workers are also all very different. All great to work with however not like any other individual can be unreasonable and unsupportive.
-The hardest part of the job is when I am left alone as a junior to projects on my own. I also appreciate the opportunity as it allows a lot of learning and independence even though it might be stressful.
-Travelling and thus meeting and talking to different people at all times. The co-workers that are also there to advise you during hardships of their experiences and that the workplace is an environment where one should continuously adapt and take all experiences as they come.
Points positifsMeeting people in very high positions
- Days are deadline and productivity driven.
- Time is very important and should be used productively and chargeable to the client.
- Management is helpful however they appreciate individuals who take initiative and show the willingness to take on more responsibility while they are able to complete their duties as well.
- The hardest part of the job is working overtime and late hours to reach client expectations and deadlines even though the time provided is unreasonable to complete the work required. The rewards/compensation is not market related and equivalent to the work load and pressure.
- The most enjoyable part is the travelling and meeting new people and being challenged on every audit engagement. Builds character and develops your skills while learning new skills.
Points positifsGreat training and travel.
Points négatifsLong hours and low compensation/rewards.
