IT Security Specialist : avis sur KPMG
Great people to work with who will help you get to the next level
As a KPMG consultant, there is not "typical" day at work. You can be heavily involved with clients one day and just work from home on another day. It varies depending on your work style.
From KPMG, I learned how to communicate effectively with clients.
KPMG management is very hierarchical - started with associate to senior associate to manager to partner. The hierarchy varies depending on your department.
My coworkers were wonderful. They were friendly and respectful, very easy to work with. Co workers above me were very eager to help push me to the next level.
Hardest part of the job was getting to the next level. To get there, you must prove yourself to internal team members such as director and partners. To do so, you must work under a very challenging environment which requires a lot of traveling and face time with clients and coworkers. If you have a family, you will have very little time seeing them...
Most enjoyable part of the job (if you are young and do not have a family) is the travel. You get to see may different places and many different people around the world. I also enjoyed the opportunities and education my company offered me.
A Great place to Work and Grow as a Leader
KPMG offers an excellent opportunity for anyone who is looking to grow as a leader in the Financial Services Industry. They have some of the biggest Banks as their clients. Their Cybersecurity Practice always expanding and constantly changing to address the industry needs.
1. Lots of training across the US
2. Lot of secondment opportunities (you will work with people from Netherlands, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada and all over the world). They also, make this global career as part of your leadership development.
3. Lots of people all walks of life (Big 4 and Industry) who bring in that experience and makes it a rich place to work.
4. Lots of travel, just raise your hand and let them know.
Points positifsTravel, Financial Services Industry, Coaching and Mentoring, Hands Off Management, Access to SME/SMRs globally
Toxic due to reorg in 2019
KPMG really tries to foster good working culture. However, in 2019 the culture in IT areas are very toxic due to some reorg and such. This does mean new opportunities for some, but for those that were/are there, it is a very challenging and stressful environment. This is my opinion of the immediate areas within my responsibilities. It may be different in audit/tax/advisory areas.
Points positifsdecent pay/good benefits/early friday dismissals in summer.
Points négatifstoxic culture at least for the short term.

Great Place to Launch a Career
I got to experience a wide array of projects while working here - some awesome, some terrible. It eventually lead to me a career field that made fulfilled. Like any Big 4 firm, the benefits are great but prepared to sacrifice your personal life for advancement.

Typical Big 4 experience, fast-paced and you will learn a lot on the job. Good support from managers but sometimes you are asked to just figure it out yourself.

Management is busy most of the day in CYA and throwing employees under the bus is common practice.
