Great Firm, Poor Engagement Management
KPMG is an awesome firm to work for! However, the engagement I’m currently assigned to is poorly managed with unorganized project teams. From my experience on this project, I’ve been treated unfairly by Senior Associates. It’s sad what one would do just to get noticed in hopes for a promotion to the next level. The actual project manager and Directors are beyond amazing! Super nice and caring!!!(Although they’re not on site as much). A “manager” is actually “running” the project as Deputy Project Mgr and you can really see the lack of experience. Here on this project, I feel like only a number who’s filling a position. There’s also NO WORK LIFE BALANCE. You’re expected to work overtime with NO COMPENSATION or incentives. The traveling gets overwhelming too. The Deputy Project Mgr really does not care about the employees and she leads with her emotions OFTEN. I’m really thinking about transferring to another area of the firm or requesting a different engagement.
If you’re anything below a Senior Associate, be prepared to be treated as if you’re on the bottom of a barrel. My advice to anyone working for Federal Advisory is to stand firm and don’t be afraid to have a voice! Some “managers” or “senior associates” aren’t who they portray themselves to be.
The benefits aren’t too bad and the culture is AMAZING!!!!!! I wish I had more time in the office versus on the client site.

Good learning platform with a difficult management
A typical day at work includes client meetings for audit purpose with a lot of brainstorming with peers and seniors. The organization provides a good learning platform for the beginners. I learned all of my work and professionalism here. The management can be unreasonable at times with respect to working even in the out of office hours. The employees may not be appreciated to be able/try to maintain a work life balance. The promotions may not be on merit basis every time. It's a let down. The most enjoyable part of the job is travelling and meeting new people every time.

Cruel working conditions, management and unfriendly working environment
Working at tax compliance department is related to tough deadlines, vouching of enormous documentation, bureaucracy, for example as a consultant you are not allowed to share your view of a work process improvement directly with a manager, strictly via a senior consultant.
During working for KPMG I faced biased management, supporting of proteges, abnormal competition among peers. On the other hand, I have learned a lot about corportive system, including politics, procedures and professional ethics.

Exciting work life with loads of places to travel
A typical day at KPMG starts with non-stop buzzing of cellphones during work hours (this is a by default policy at KPMG.. no one disturbs u beyond work hours). You get to work on exciting projects with prospects of travelling around the globe. People are nice and you can learn on the job with the help of those people. There is no hard part of the job. Only if you are willing and enthusiastic to put your best foot forward, things are butter-smooth then. The most wonderful part of the job is the travelling and meeting new people everyday. :)
Points positifsFree Travel across the globe
Points négatifsToo much travel may lead to office-sickness

Experience
I learned a lot from my professional experience, thus far. I started off as a fresh pass out from a second tier business school. However, I had good colleagues (superiors), who would understood my urge to learn and helped me out in learning many things I did not know earlier.
Within 6 months of starting work, I was not only able to conduct myself but also lead small teams and conduct offshore-onsite collaborations. Over years, the clients and management were happy with my performance.
I started as a fresher from a a second tier business school and mad it into one of the Big4 Firms within 3.5 years.

It's a Big Four
Company offers a smorgasbord of advisory services to compliment tax and audit, but sees the world through the lens of financial management. Independence is top of mind, all the time--as it should be--and effects everything you do from investment management to opportunity pursuit. Workforce is relatively young and vibrant.
Points positifsExcellent benefits, healthy philosopy on work-life balance, great training budget, global reach
Points négatifsImpact of independence on personal finance flexibility, stove-piped by partner-led fiefdoms, lack of transparency

A great place to learn and grow as a profession
I have worked across the valuation and M&A advisory. KPMG provided a very good platform for learning and an opportunity to work across different teams to gain valuable exposure.
Valuation Projects include: Fairness Opinion, Purchase Price Allocation (PPA), Impairment testing and other asset valuation projects.
M&A Advisory Projects include: Buyer and target screening, profiles, complete pitch packs and other pre-M&A research.
Points positifsGreat exposure and learning
Points négatifsLack of transparency

Efficient Work Place
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with KPMG. Over the 18 months I gained experience across numerous different departments including Risk, Management Consulting & Corporate Restructuring. The teams I worked with were all very friendly and professional. Management were also very good and made sure to give me a lot of feed back and encouragement. Overall it was a highly positive working experience.
Points positifsGreat workplace culture

Cast a wider net
KPMG is full of opportunities and provides you a platform to interact with industry experts. KPMG trains you and helps you build your career. Overall, KPMG is one of the most employer friendly companies I have ever worked with.
KPMG Global Services offers very good seating arrangement however KPMG India might have problems related to seats as most of the people will be based out of client locations.
Points positifsTransparency in processes
Points négatifsThey don't help you enroll in sponsored courses

Productive and good working environment
A typical day at work would include going through the tasks assigned and prioritising the tasks based on the urgency. The best part of my learning process was how to work with multidisciplinary teams and make the most out of the skills of each person. The Management is good with the top managers being approachable and friendly work environment. Close knit teams with focus tasks and clients working towards delivering the best.
