Productive and fun workplace
Working for an audit firm was a great opportunity. It helped me to link the knowledge gained at school with the practical application. A typical day at work began at 8am ending at 4.30pm if it was the off peak season. As a junior I would be given responsibility of one or two sections depending on the size of the client and the deadline. This allowed me to grow and set goals for myself, for example, completing a section in fewer hours so as to save on client charges or being more thorough to avoid going over the same procedures again.
I had the chance to lead a small client and was responsible for all sections from planning the audit, to testing of controls, substantive procedures and finalization of audit report. This gave me a great sense of responsibility and accountability.
The hardest part of the job was working for extremely long hours without overtime payment. The most enjoyable was the experience gained, the team work and the recognition and appreciation for a job well done. KPMG would appreciate my strengths and encourage me to work on any weaknesses.
In overall, the team spirit at KPMG was vibrant. One could always count on the other team members to assist when necessary and to provide guidance. It felt like I was part of a family.
Points positifsIntegrity, family spirit
Points négatifsLong hours

A very good environment for learning
Our day usually began at 10 in the morning. The first thing that I did everyday was to check my email in the office to know if there is a circular for my Audit team or a message addressed to me. I came to know alot about Accounting and Audit in this role because that's where I did hands on training on the concepts that I learned in my course. I came to know how IFRS standards are adhered to and how Audits are performed keeping in mind the requirements of ISAs. Our Supervisors, Assistant Managers and Managers were very supportive and helping. Co-workers came from a broad spectrum of Financial fields and were studying towards different accounting and finance qualifications. The hardest part of the job was to present our audit working papers for review to the Audit partner because in case of mistakes the reprimand had a trickle down effect i-e from Audit partner to Manager, Manager to Assistant Manager, Assistant Manager to Supervisor and from Supervisor to the Audit team. The most enjoyable part of the job was to visit the client premises and to know about their organisations and staying at their premises.
Points positifsA well respected position with client management
Points négatifsLong hours

An experience of a lifetime
Work starts at 9 am in the morning and ends when the work is completed to the level that it can end within the time limits given. I learned a lot at KPMG. I learned KPMG how an audit is conducted according to KPMG's audit methodology using KPMG audit softwares and auditing tools. The environment and culture at KPMG is very co operative and the co workers help you in any difficulty faced in the completion of a quality work. The skills and expertise of the co workers helped in performing my work efficiently and effectively. The hardest part of the job was when we were auditing the financial statements of OGDCL ( Oil & Gas Development Company Limited) annually. We had to stay at the office for 4 nights to complete the work. The most enjoyable part of the job at KPMG was the jokes we shared amongst ourselves in our free times and the enthusiasm to complete our job on time. Overall, my experience at KPMG was a one to remember and of great importance due to the amount of experience I gained there.

The greatest public accounting firm to work at
Excellent hands on training, amazing training program providing opportunity to travel and stay in the best hotel! Fun and outstanding team members and clients to work with and learn from, flexible working arrangement and well structured management. The hardest part of the job, I suppose, was the long hours during busy season but as the time was very efficiently spent, days went very fast. The most enjoyable part of the job is to see the final product of our engagement and see our client to publish their annual 10-K report to the SEC!
Points positifsEncouraging environment for learning and asking questions, supportive management and team members, great overtime meals!

Busy and sometimes high pressure work place but days filled with learning and never boring.
Every day was different, hard to sometimes grasp objectives and tasks being asked of you. A lot of learning and tasks to complete. Feedback was sometimes stuttered, quicker feedback loops would have been more beneficial. Felt like the centre of the world though and work was always important. Never a dull day and different projects and colleagues. Fulfilling work with mobility but often stress and time pressures. Long hours were there if you wanted them.
Points positifsGood benefits, opportunities, training and learning.
Points négatifsLong hours, pressure and sometimes stress.

It was a great learning experience for my work over there as intern.
A typical day at job would involve interacting relationship mangers at the client, which was a bank, to collect relevant data that would be used for assurance purpose. It was a great learning experience in terms of understanding how a corporate bank operates. My co-workers very were helpful and we worked as a team to reach our objectives for the internship. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to appreciate the application of the learnings that I was taught in my university. The hardest part was to collect documents from the bank.

Stressful
KPMG Gulf was a very stressful environment to be in. The staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. No proper induction was provided or even instructions for daily work. I was assigned to many clients and whilst some of my supervisors were a delight to work for, there was always pressure in the workplace to meet deadlines without any clear instruction or guideline. It was a lot of travel and no credit was given, no appreciating for a work well done, hence it was demotivating to say the least.
Points positifs-
Points négatifsLong hours, boring, unfriendly management
