Avis généraux sur l'entreprise KPMG (Silicon Valley, CA)
not much work/life balance
When you're busy, you're verrry busy, and when you're not, your teams don't know how to handle that, so they make you stay late anyways. You'll always be on at least 3 year-end audits every year, sometimes more. If your biggest client isn't super busy, resource management will just move you on to another team that is.
Not sure if it's just this office, but the culture just perpetuates treating anyone with a title lower than yours as terribly as possible, simply because "that's how you were treated when you were that level". Rather than trying to change this for new classes as they come in, the firm just lets this happen, because they know that turnover is high in public accounting.
Points positifsplenty of PTO (if you can get approval from teams), looks good on a resume, the firm pays for your CPA study materials
Points négatifslack of communication down to associates, pay is not nearly enough, very little work-life balance
• Identified audit procedures needed in ascertaining the fairness of the client’s financial statements
• Perform business process documentation and testing of key internal controls
• Prepare letters, reporting package, and memorandum submitted to auditors abroad and other communications
• Heavy use of Excel, SQL, Visio
• 75% domestic and international travel
Nice Company, Long Hours
KPMG pays well and offers good benefits. They also sponsor a lot of company events and socials, which makes more fun. However the hours are long (especially in busy season) and with remote work, I am often in front of my computer everyday with no human interaction. Some people may enjoy that, however I have a hard time with it. Overall I enjoy it.
Faced-paced, long hours, great teams!
You learn an incredible amount in such a small amount of time. You get promoted every year, it is very fast paced. It is definitely not for everyone, be prepared to work long hours every day, especially during busy season. It pays well, has great benefits, and you work alongside some of the brightest people out there.

As per the KPMG tag line, this place really is a great place to build your career. You'll meet some of the finest people and teams to work with and learn a great deal within the first 4 years or up until you are a manager.
Points négatifsManagement does not have a proper vision of where the practice is headed.
Great company to work for if you don't mind consistent overtime
Consistently required to work overtime depending on what project you are staffed on. Good health insurance, 401K, and PTO of 20 days + firm-wide holidays. However, there is no such thing as a work-life balance.
good place to start career
Great place to start your career and build foundation. KPMG is devoted to growth of employees and management typically supports your desire to learn. Your work life balance may not be ideal depending on project/season.
