Avis généraux sur l'entreprise KPMG (San Diego, CA)
High Performance Culture Environment
A typical day at work was normally at the client's work site. We performed audit procedures to give an opinion on the accuracy and reliability of the financial statements. I learned how to test internal controls as well as substantive testing. To be able to test accounts on the balance sheet and income statement it was necessary to have an understanding of the company's operations. During my time at KPMG I learned a vast knowledge of how companies operate and the accounting that went along with it. The people who work at KPMG are extremely intelligent and hard working. I have great respect for all of my co-workers. The hardest part of this job was during "busy season" where long hours were expected. The most enjoyable part of my job was the people who I worked with and the opportunity to be exposed to new challenging work.
Cutting edge projects and employee development
Typical day included balancing production with results and client satisfaction.
Learned how the best accounting firms tackle the toughest tax issues.
Culture was hands off -- sink or swim. Which was OK with me.
Hardest part of job was dealing with the political environment.
Most enjoyable part was working with young professionals (I was in charge of recruiting for the tax department).
Points positifsWorking with and for the best in the industry
Points négatifsPressure to sell hours to my clients even if they didn't need it
Hard work during busy season
You will work very hard during busy season, which is hard if you have a family. But the people are great. You learn a lot and the client exposure is fantastic. Benefits and time off are excellent. If you can stick this out, it's a good career.
Points positifsGenerous time off...if you can find the time to use it
Points négatifsBusy season is arduous
Great learning opportunities, no work/life balance
- Almost guaranteed career track/promotion schedule
-Can be surrounded by really smart people
- Busy season hours (60-90) for 6+ months of the year
Good Experience, Hard Work
Lots of travel required, but the work is good. Partners are relentless and not always enjoyable to work with. Lot of international work as well. Partners are not nice.
Points positifsExpense everything
Points négatifsZero work life balance
Great place to start a career
I worked here 17 years ago. While the work wasn’t for me, it was a great place to start a career. The benefits and extra curricular activities are great. The hours are pretty rough but you know that going in.
Worked in Personal Financial Planning
Support team in Personal Financial Planning. Learned all facets of office administration and turned firm into a paperless, virtual firm.
KPMG is a Big 4 public accounting firm. The San Diego office is a solid team of accounting professionals serving the San Diego community business organizations.
