Avis généraux sur l'entreprise KPMG (Portland, OR)
Smart People, but slow to adapt to market changes
I found KPMG to be a fantastic place to work in general. Everyone is very smart but that does not mean you will get along with them. They do work hard to advance people but tend to end up very top heavy which can make it hard to complete with other firms on price. I also find that they are a bit slow to take up new technologies that are needed in the industry. My co workers were great and they work hard to teach me new skills but I find that learning new skills is talked about but not necessarily acted upon by senior management so there was little formal training. The hardest part of the job was the constant travel which made it hard for me to have a personal life. Then, when budgets got tight, they cut off travel which made it very difficult to connect with clients. It is a very entrepreneurial culture so you have to make it on your own. Nobody is going to hold your hand along the way, which can be good or bad. It is good that it weeds out those that don't make the cut quickly, but it can be bad that everyone is fighting for the same piece of pie.
Points positifsSmart employees
Points négatifsLack of training.
Hard Working Young Culture with Transparent Promotion Tracks
KPMG is a good place to start your professional career. You will work hard during busy seasons, but you will also have a clear promotional track and will be surrounded by a younger culture. Those that flourish at KPMG are individuals who aren't afraid to perform above their titles.
Points positifs5 Weeks of PTO
Points négatifsJudged on Utilization, which is affected by PTO
Busy but worth it
I worked at KPMG as an intern and worked my way up the ranks to manager. The KPMG Portland, OR team is amazing and honestly a wonderful place to work.
Yes - the work hours can be terrible and the clients can be a pain, but overall it was a great experience with great local leadership and a lot of potential for career advancement.
Good place to work, Solid training program, build skills that will reused in your future roles within your career
Good place to work, training and development of staff a key focus, provides diverse industry exposure, good technical leaders
Points positifsBuilds long term skills, drives behaviour to respect deadlines, develops you technically
Good time but not my thing
The people at KPMG were great and I liked the office. I just felt as though the portland clients were not particularly note worthy. I also learned that public audit was not my thing. Overall they teach you a lot and it is a great experience. Pay is a little low compared to other big four
High performing and fast past culture for accounting superstars
The most enjoyable part of the job was constantly being encouraged to learn and grow in my career, whether that be trainings, rotations, and flexible scheduling.
Typical Big 4 experience
KPMG offers a lot of value in the way of gaining knowledge and advancement, as long as you are dedicated and motivated to succeed. It comes with the obvious busy season hours and travel, but that comes with the territory.
Great company. Office culture is fast paced and a good mix of individuals. Excellent vacation pay, but Portland office could do better in keeping abreast of current trends and incentives for operations employees.
Great career start
Great start to career but experience can change just based on who you’re working with. I do appreciate the individuals I have met here in Portland as they are a good personable group.
Points positifsFood, coffee, flexibility
Great for starting career
Good place to start career, learn a lot fast and lots of options to learn and get promoted. However it's unsustainable and burn out happens fast. Pay is abysmal for the amount you work.
