Description de la situation de mon travail :
Wonderful environment with a strong corporate identity
I had 3 different jobs by the Chanel company, each more challenging than the previous one, for different reasons.
I learned how to manage people from various origins and with different levels of qualifications.
From the many projects I was involved in, I learned the importance of teamwork
The brand culture is really strong, with a high non-disclosure commitment, which is somehow inherent to this kind of job, whoever I work for, but even higher with Chanel.
The most enjoyable part of working for Chanel was that no month and no year would be like the previous one.
What was so hard over there ? Making the decision to resign to discovering new horizons. The turnover rate is very low by this company.
Points positifsBeautiful headquarter in Paris, really nice place to work in
Points négatifsDifficult to switch from one department to another, HR were reluctant to entrust you in a different job position.

I was in charge of the store in the Galerie Lafayette Chanel store in Paris ( 12 hours per day or 14 ) and the society let me deal with the security. When I was working there I opened the store, checked every safety alarm on every product in display, waited for the sellers and control the people waiting outside the store and checked the customer inside. I have learned a lot, about self control, self management, crowd control, team work (with the sellers)...
The hardest part of the job was to be polite with the people waiting to go in and control and served the customer inside.
The most enjoyable part was to work in a Luxury store and be able to share and be part of this world.
I was the supervisor of 30 men during the fashion show in Paris.
Exciting work place, great team and energetic staff!
Working at Chanel was an amazing learning experience and allowed me to develop as a person and as an artist. I learned to better communicate my ideas and work efficiently with large groups of people.
A typical work day included maintaining visual displays and sets, while also carrying out some administrative in the office. My counterpart and I planned and informed the staff about floor moves and over night installations for new collection launches. I managed stock and inventory, as well as sample items for the displays.
I developed my skills to build a strong visual composition as well as a better understanding of color. My team and I worked closely with Paris to develop concepts for new sets that coincided with the runway etc.
I really enjoyed the workplace culture at Chanel, it is great to work with equally passionate people in a high energy and fast paced environment. The management was sometimes lacking but overall everyone pulled their weight to make the end result come together.
The hardest part about my job was the time crunch and pressure my team and I were often under. Although exciting and intense, it was sometimes exhausting. The hours are long and there were often nights I was working until 3 or 4am. Regardless, it was exciting and seeing the finished display always made it worth it.
The most enjoyable part of my day was working with such amazing people who appreciated the work I conducted. The team was positive and encouraged everyone to think

Administrative Coordinator | London | 23 juin 2014
deadline driven tasks within a busy environment
A typical day at work includes responding to phone calls from Chanel consultants, customers and prospective candidates, organising paperworks, opening mail and inputting data in the system. Twice a month, Chanel mails out a pack to counters all over the UK containing the information pack regarding new products, events, and general catch up with the brand.
I have learned many valuable skills including basic use of the SAP / ADP system to record holiday and sickness diaries of all UK consultants as well as inputting sales figures into the system. I have improved my Microsoft Offices and communication skills by interacting with customers and colleagues of all levels.
What I enjoyed most about working at Chanel were my colleagues as they provide good laughs during bad days, the demanding nature of the job as I was never left with nothing to do, strict 9 - 5 work hours, and the occasional product giveaway.
What I did not enjoy about working at Chanel was the culture of the workplace. Management style was very top down therefore I often found myself disappointing customers or consultants because I could not reach certain decision makers at the time. As Chanel is a well-known global brand, some procedures are absolutely the by-the-book which provides little room for flexibility and creativity.
Points positifsBusy work environment, great office design, friendly colleagues, the occasional products giveaway
A typical day at work will include cleaning of counters, liaising with cash and serving clients at point of sale.
On some days, there will be stock take exercises, Visual merchandise change and even morning monthly meetings to attend.
The colleagues here are really fun to work with, more importantly we work as a team to achieve our daily figures.
I've learnt how to achieve my sales target and many ways or techniques to maximize every transaction, but at the same time to provide high quality service to my clients. I have also learnt to manage and build relationships not just with colleagues but also with clients. Aside from that, i've learnt to deal with paper work such as ordering of stocks and replenishing or returning of items from boutiques to warehouse, etc.
The hardest part of the job is that it can get quite competitive at times. At times, we will also have to stay back in order to hit our daily sales target which i feel is hindering the work/life balance.
The most enjoyable part of the job however, is that the company hold many events from time to time such as our national conference, creative workshops and pop up events to cater to our welfare needs. The benefits are excellent! which is why everybody wants to join CHANEL.
• The organization is top heavy and relies on too many middle managers to make concrete decisions from a boutique level
• There is a serious breakdown in communication between subordinates and managers and the sheer number of managers makes it confusing to proceed with how best to handle tasks
• Client escalations and issues were left for (inexperienced) subordinates to address - it was next to impossible to get a manager on duty to intervene
• Unprofessionalism is rampant and it was common for gossip to spread like wildfire, equating to the currency used to get in a manager’s good graces (this was a big deal)
• Favoritism and ego stroking were blatant and obvious between staff and managers
• Corporate is unclear regarding roles within the company, and often tasks were assigned to incapable individuals
• Salary is not competitive and growth is nonexistent
• Inadequate documentation of unacceptable behavior by management
• Cliquey environment
If you're looking for a place that values you as an asset, look elsewhere.
Points positifspension, wellness fund (if they haven't cut that due to covid)
Points négatifsCondescending managers and staff, disorganized org, faux team environment
Productive and enjoyable workplace where I could work creatively and either independently or with a team.
A typical day working at Chanel involved providing excellent customer service, while demonstrating my professionalism, creativity, and passion for the brand. I learned a lot about my personal strengths and weaknesses, but mostly about the importance of maintaining relationships with my clients. My management team and co-workers were all terrific people to work with. They each brought something unique to Chanel and helped me find my own special place within the company. The most difficult part of my job was keeping up with the company policies. When working with a luxury brand such as Chanel, there are a lot of rules and regulations that must be followed at all times. The most enjoyable part of my job was getting to know the people who shopped there and the products they were shopping for. I received the most pleasure helping a client find exactly what they are looking for. For me, making other people happy is what fulfills me. If my job can do that for me, I know I'm on the right path.
The Wertheimer family is focused on developing & growing Gabrielle's legacy.
I was a territory manager for the Chanel Cosmetic brand within Tennessee for 9 years. The success, passion and loyalty of the Beauty Advisors that worked at the following retailers: Nordstrom, Dillards, Macys & Belk stood out from all other cosmetic brands. These sales associates had an extensive knowledge of Gabrielle Chanel's vision and commitment to excellence. Because of their elevated sales results they were highly sought after by the competition.
I have since left CHANEL, the main reason was due to the lack of support from the New York Office. Often there was no clear communication or direction from upper management. Our National meetings (held once every 6 months) was the only time we received important product information.
Only if you asked questions did you show-up on upper managements radar. Unfortunately, this also meant you were questioning the status quo. This was not looked upon favorably.
Points positifsBrand heritage and customer awareness.
Points négatifsLack of communication & support at field sales level.
Client service and selling, providing outstanding service by identifying client needs as well as applying expert makeovers
Continuously drive optimum levels of activity in store
Technical skills and administration, assist with continuous monitoring of business as well as appropriate analysis of results, to recognise areas of growth and opportunity, to build and impact business overall
Reporting low stock levels to counter manager in order to maintain healthy stock holding
Always up selling to existing clients
Maintain healthy relationships with clients by putting them on our CRM database
Achieving weekly and monthly performance targets
Appropriate and effective liaison with Regional development manager, head office as well as colleges and store personnel
Being confident to present and deliver one on one consultations, also re booking clients to build strong relationships
Demonstration enthusiasm for selling, flair for the products and excitement to provide client satisfaction
Organizing successful in store events
A day a work will include opening and closing the shop ready for the Chanel staff to open the safe and put the jewellery out for display.
I have learned a great deal in this type of security, I have learned how to be more professional in this environment , especially working in places like Bond street and New Bond street. I am always well groomed and have conditioned myself to stand and be polite and professional all day in a repeated process to clients and staff. As its a new company that i work for the management have not always been fair. Alot has changed since june last year as you will expect with a new company, but I feel like i dont get enough back from the company as i put in alot of hard work and have done 24 hour shifts in emergencies before. I feel like its time to move on and continue my career with another company. I dont feel there is any hard part of the job as such but the most enjoyable part of the job is working with really nice people on the shop floor.
I was required to take on the role of Assistant Marketing Manager for the entire duration of my internship due to staff changes within the business. I was responsible for managing the CRM database, and overseeing the supplier invoice and payment process. I liaised with stores on sample requests and supervised the store visual merchandising of beauty and fragrance products. I helped prepare and present briefs designed to target external retail buyers on new Chanel collections, and was solely responsible for various other research presentations, including price comparisons between Mexico and France, and Chanel competitor research. I presented all research projects to the marketing and communications team alone. I took part in the organization and management of store product promotion events, and managed the related social media and online marketing. I was also involved in the planning of a Mexico City pop-up store.
